Tajani: We extended air and sea border controls with Spain by 15 days
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced that he supports the government's decision to extend controls at air and sea borders with Spain for another 15 days.
Italian Foreign Minister Tajani made a statement on his social media account regarding the extension of controls at air and sea borders with Spain.
Tajani said the government's decision to extend the controls for another 15 days was the right one. He stated that the measure would remain temporary until the necessary conditions were in place for the resumption of free and full movement.
Tajani said the controls were aimed at ensuring the security of Italian and European borders within the framework of Schengen rules and, in particular, preventing the infiltration of jihadist elements, adding that Italy would continue to work in cooperation with European Union countries.
Tajani said they aim to combat illegal migration in cooperation with Spain and instead promote controlled and regular migration flows.
