Three killed in two shootings in the US
Kentucky, July 14 (Hibya) – Three people, including the attacker, were killed in two shootings at a church and an airport in the US state of Kentucky.
According to state officials, the armed attacker fled to Richmond Road Baptist Church after shooting a police officer, where another shooting occurred.
Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers said the unidentified suspect attacked a Kentucky State Police officer at 11:36 a.m. on the Blue Grass Airport terminal road. The officer had pulled him over after receiving a license plate reader alert.
“The officer was shot and the suspect fled,” Weathers said, adding that the officer was in stable condition and receiving treatment.
Weathers stated that law enforcement located the suspect at Richmond Road Baptist Church, about 26 kilometers southeast, where he opened fire again.
The suspect was fatally shot by police, but not before at least four people had been shot in the church, with two of them killed.
“Preliminary information suggests the suspect may have had a connection with individuals at the church. Four people were shot on church grounds,” Weathers said.
He said that one of the two male victims shot at the church was in critical condition and the other was stable.
