Trump announces 100% tariff on films produced in foreign countries
Washington, May 5 (Hibya) – U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday via the Truth Social platform that a 100% tariff will be imposed on all films "produced in foreign countries," stating that the U.S. film industry is "dying very quickly" due to incentives offered by other countries to attract American filmmakers.
In his post, he claimed to have authorized the Department of Commerce and the U.S. Trade Representative to immediately begin applying the tariff.
Trump wrote on Truth Social: “This is a joint effort by other nations and therefore a National Security threat. On top of everything, it is messaging and propaganda!”
He added: “We want movies to be made in America again!”
