Trump Appoints Himself as President of the Art Center
Washington, February 8 (Hibya) - Donald Trump announced on Friday that he had appointed himself as the president of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and added that he had immediately dismissed multiple members of the board of trustees and the current president.
Trump wrote on Truth Social: "Under my directive, we will make the Kennedy Center in Washington great again."
The Kennedy Center is the country's national cultural center and is managed through a public-private partnership. The idea for such a center began in the 1930s with Eleanor Roosevelt and was authorized by Congress in 1958. It officially opened in 1971. The center is known for hosting performances in music, theater, dance, art, and stage performance, featuring artists like Tina Turner and Led Zeppelin.
A spokesperson for the Kennedy Center stated that they were aware of Trump's post on Truth Social but "had not received any official communication from the White House regarding any changes in the board of trustees."
