Trump: I spoke with Putin and we agreed to start negotiations
Washington, February 12 (Hibya) - Donald Trump stated that he and Vladimir Putin directly discussed starting negotiations for a ceasefire in the Ukraine war and reached an agreement.
Trump posted on social media that he had a "long and highly productive phone call" with Putin and that they agreed that "relevant teams would immediately begin negotiations."
He also stated that he and Putin agreed to visit each other's countries.
Trump wrote on TruthSocial: "As we both agreed, we want to stop millions of deaths in the Russia/Ukraine war. President Putin even used my very powerful campaign slogan 'COMMON SENSE'. We both strongly believe in this. We agreed to work very closely together, including visiting each other's countries."
The U.S. negotiation team will include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Ambassador and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
