Türk: Artificial intelligence must protect human rights and not be in the hands of private interests
New York, April 27 (Hibya) – UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk spoke at the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights held in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
In his speech, Türk highlighted both the immense potential and the risks of artificial intelligence.
He pointed out that sectors such as aviation, pharmaceuticals, and even fast food are subject to regulations, whereas AI remains largely under private sector control — a serious concern.
“We need AI governance that protects human life and rights and prioritizes the public good,” Türk stated, emphasizing the need for binding global regulations.
