Ukrainian President Zelensky noted that he had a productive meeting with Italian President Sergio Mattarella.

Zelensky expressed gratitude for Italy's steadfast support for Ukraine, its clear and principled stance on a just and lasting peace, and the importance of working closely with international partners to achieve this goal. He added:

“I greatly appreciate Italy's positive view on Ukraine's integration into the EU and NATO as key components of a broader European security system. I emphasized that Ukraine's integration into existing, functioning security structures is not only the most effective solution but also the most cost-efficient for all partners.”

Zelensky underscored the importance of Italy's unwavering position on maintaining and enforcing sanctions against Russia, which initiated the war in the heart of Europe.
