UN General Assembly overwhelmingly adopts two resolutions on Palestine
New York, December 4 (Hibya) - The United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly adopted two resolutions on Palestine.
The first resolution, "Peaceful Resolution of the Question of Palestine," was adopted with the support of 157 countries, while 8 voted against and 7 abstained. The second resolution, "Division of Palestine Rights at the Secretariat," was adopted with the support of 101 countries, 27 voted against, and 42 abstained.
The General Assembly convened today to discuss the situation in Palestine. General Assembly President Philemon Yang emphasized in his speech that peace and security in the Middle East cannot be achieved through force or occupation, but through a just, comprehensive, and lasting solution based on mutual recognition and international law.
President Yang highlighted the importance of the two-state solution as the only path to lasting peace, stating:
"After over a year of war and suffering, the realization of this vision has become more urgent than ever."
