UN: One million flee Rafah in three weeks
Stockholm, May 29 (Hibya) - The number of people fleeing the southern Gaza city of Rafah surpassed one million in just three weeks.
The head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, shared on Tuesday that airstrikes continued into Tuesday night and wrote that, as a result, most of his staff could not come to work.
Lazzarini said, "They are gathering their belongings and moving. They are afraid. People are seeking safety but cannot find it. It's an endless show of horror, but it's real. Two million people are living in hell."
On Sunday, at least 40 people, according to Palestinian health authorities, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a tent camp in Tel al-Sultan in Rafah, where most of the UN centres in Gaza are located.
