US actors go on strike against the use of artificial intelligence in video games
New York, August 2 (Hibya) - American actors working in video games have gone on strike to highlight their fears that artificial intelligence is undermining their work.
The SAG-AFTRA union is behind the strike, which began last week and is still ongoing.
The gaming industry uses actors for, among other things, the voices and movements of game characters, and the strike comes as negotiations between SAG-AFTRA and gaming companies such as Warner Bros Gaming and Disney have fallen apart.
Gamers fear that in the future, game makers will use artificial intelligence to reproduce their voices and not pay them properly for it.
This is the second time that gamers in the gaming industry have gone on strike demanding better protections against the use of AI.
