Istanbul, June 2 (Hibya) - Major U.S. stock market indices ended the trading day mostly higher.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) rose by 46.42 points to 51,078.88 points, while the S&P 500 index gained 0.26 percent to reach 7,599.96 points.
The technology-heavy Nasdaq index also continued its rise, advancing 0.42 percent to 27,086.81 points.
Meanwhile, the Russell 2000 index, which tracks small-cap stocks, declined 0.47 percent to 2,905.76 points.
The VIX Index, widely followed as a measure of market volatility, increased 4.77 percent to 16.05.
