Venice reduces the number of tourist parties to 25 to reduce the impact on the city
Rome, July 31 (Hibya) - Venice will limit the size of tourist parties to 25 people from Thursday in the latest attempt to reduce the impact of crowds on the lagoon city.
Local authorities will also ban tourist guides' use of loudspeakers to “protect the tranquillity of the inhabitants” and allow pedestrians to move more freely.
Fines ranging from €25-500 will be imposed on those who fail to comply with the measures, which were originally scheduled to take effect in June but have been postponed until early August.
The restrictions cover the city centre and Murano, Burano and Torcello islands.
