Dutch Foreign Minister Weel stated that they signed a Letter of Intent with Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to strengthen cooperation in defense and maritime security, saying, “Security is built on cooperation.”

Van Weel noted that the signed document “sets out our joint efforts to deepen our partnership in defense and maritime security” and that it also includes efforts “to safeguard open and secure sea lanes in the Indo-Pacific.”

Drawing attention to the importance of semiconductors for economic growth and security, van Weel said, “Semiconductors are becoming increasingly indispensable for economic growth and security. India and the Netherlands are working closely together in this field.”

Emphasizing that NXP is a concrete example of this cooperation, van Weel said, “NXP is a shining example of how Dutch technology and India’s innovation ecosystem reinforce each other.”

Referring to his visit to NXP’s campus in India and meetings with technology leaders, van Weel stated, “We discussed how we can further advance this cooperation.” He added that India having a dedicated ministry for Electronics and Information Technology “shows that this sector is at the heart of the country’s ambitions.”
