Stockholm, December 26 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said he was at Sana’a International Airport during the airstrike.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus wrote on X: "About two hours ago, as we were preparing to board our flight from Sana’a, the airport was hit by an airstrike. One of our flight crew members was injured. At least two people were reported dead at the airport. The air traffic control tower, the departure hall, and the runway, located just a few meters from us, were damaged."
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that UN and WHO colleagues are safe but would need to wait for repairs to the damage before leaving the airport. He added: "We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones in this attack."
