WHO: Over 70% of COPD cases are caused by tobacco use
Geneva, November 20 (Hibya) – The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that over 70% of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) cases in high-income countries are caused by tobacco use.
In a statement from WHO, it was noted that over 70% of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) cases in high-income countries are caused by tobacco use.
The statement added that in low- and middle-income countries, tobacco smoking accounts for 30-40% of COPD cases, and indoor air pollution is a significant risk factor.
