Wong: We understand it is a difficult time for Australians in Lebanon
Canberra, 30 September (Hibya) – Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong stated that they understand it is a difficult time for Australians in Lebanon and that the ministry is working with airlines to help citizens book flights.
Australian Foreign Minister Wong expressed that they understand this is a challenging time for Australians and their families in Lebanon.
She noted that leaving is a difficult decision and that finding ways to leave due to flight cancellations is also challenging. “The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is working with airlines to assist Australians in securing tickets for commercial flights,” Wong said.
Wong also highlighted the risk of Beirut Airport being closed for an extended period and that the ministry is in direct contact with registered Australians to provide updates.
