Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's Foreign Trade Sets Record with 47% Increase
According to data released by the Ürümqi Customs, in the first three quarters of this year, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's total import and export volume reached 252.84 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 47.3%. This sets a record for Xinjiang's foreign trade in the first nine months, surpassing the full-year volume of 2022.
The Ürümqi Customs data indicates that the policies implemented in Xinjiang since the beginning of the year have improved the stability and quality of foreign trade and ensured smooth access to border crossings. In the first three quarters of the year, Xinjiang's export volume increased by 48.8% year-on-year to 213.38 billion yuan, while the import volume increased by 39.8% year-on-year to 39.46 billion yuan.
Xinjiang's foreign trade with its major trading partners, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, increased by 71.2%, 32.5%, and 93% year-on-year, respectively. Xinjiang's import and export value to countries along the Belt and Road increased by 49.7% year-on-year, and the import and export value to five Central Asian countries increased by 53.8% year-on-year.
