Zelensky: Slovakia's share in Ukraine's electricity imports is approximately 19%
Kyiv, December 28 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Slovakia's share in Ukraine's electricity imports is approximately 19%, and that the Ukrainian government is working with EU neighbors to maintain the necessary electricity supply volumes.
President Zelensky emphasized that the sole reason for Ukraine importing electricity at the moment is Russia's occupation of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and its use of missiles and "Shahed" drones to deliberately destroy a significant portion of Ukraine's thermal and hydroelectric power production.
Zelensky noted that thanks to the efforts of energy workers and lifesaving cooperation with the EU, USA, UK, Norway, Japan, and other partners, Ukraine has managed to prevent power outages:
"Now, Fico is dragging Slovakia into Russia's attempts to inflict more suffering on Ukrainians. Supporting Russian aggression is completely immoral. Slovakia's share in Ukraine's electricity imports is approximately 19%. The Ukrainian government is working with our EU neighbors to maintain the necessary electricity supply volumes."
Zelensky added: "Slovakia is part of the unified European energy market, and Fico must respect the common European rules."
