It was announced this morning that Pope Francis, the spiritual leader of Catholics and Head of the Vatican State, has passed away.

President Zelensky shared a message of condolence.

In his message, he said: “Millions of people around the world are in deep mourning over the news of Pope Francis’s passing. He dedicated his life to God, to people, and to the Church. He knew how to offer hope, ease pain through prayer, and promote unity. He prayed for peace in Ukraine and for the Ukrainian people. We mourn alongside Catholics and all Christians who found spiritual support in Pope Francis. May his soul be remembered forever!”
