Deniz polisinden Adalar çevresinde 'deniz taksi' denetimi

Deaths have been reported in both countries, including three people killed when a high-rise under construction collapsed in Bangkok. Dozens more remain missing at the site.

The Myanmar junta did not release a death toll on its side of the border, but eyewitnesses and local media reported fatalities in Mandalay, as well as the towns of Toungoo and Aungban. Hundreds of injured people were taken to a hospital in the capital, Naypyidaw, and treated outside due to structural damage to the building.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake struck central Myanmar at 1:20 p.m. local time at a depth of 10 km. The epicenter was located about 17.2 km from Mandalay, the country’s second-largest city.

The full scale of the damage in Myanmar remains unclear, but social media footage from central areas shows numerous buildings either collapsed or heavily damaged.

Having lost large portions of territory to armed groups, the junta declared a state of emergency in six heavily affected regions and requested international assistance.

Footage reportedly taken inside Mandalay Airport showed people running through dust-filled corridors with ceiling panels scattered on the floor. Videos from local media showed panicked individuals crouching outside the airport for safety.

A witness in Mandalay, who requested anonymity, said eight people died when a building collapsed in the town of Pyigyitagon and that others were feared trapped. "All of Mandalay city was impacted by the quake. Rescue teams and hospitals are overwhelmed. We're managing with our neighborhood’s resources," they said.

Images published by the Myanmar-based news agency Khit Thit Media showed piles of bricks and debris outside a damaged mosque in Mandalay. At least 20 deaths were reported, although the number could not be confirmed.

Two witnesses told Reuters that at least three people were killed when a mosque partially collapsed in Toungoo, Bago region. “We were praying when the shaking started... Three people died at the scene,” one said. Local media reported that a hotel collapse in Aungban killed at least two and injured 20.

In a briefing from Yangon, Marie Manrique, a program coordinator for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), stated:

“Public infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and government buildings, was damaged. We are particularly concerned about large dams being monitored. We expect the impact to be significant.”

Bangkok city officials declared the capital a disaster zone and called for damage assessments and assistance for those still at risk.

In the northern tourist city of Chiang Mai, brief power outages caused alarm as residents rushed outside, unsure of how to react.
