Anand: Canada is building a more integrated partnership with Europe
Ottawa, August 31 (Hibya) - Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand issued a statement on her country's steps to strengthen its strategic ties with the European Union and the international engagements she will attend.
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand said transatlantic relations are entering a new era, announcing that she will attend the EU Gymnich meeting in Ireland and that Canada will subsequently host the Canada-EU Leaders' Summit.
Drawing attention to the deepening relationship between the two sides, Anand said, "Canada is building a more integrated partnership with Europe, backed by greater ambition, influence and opportunity."
Highlighting the importance of her visit to Ireland, Anand said, "Tomorrow, I will travel to Ireland and become the first Canadian foreign minister to attend a European Union Gymnich meeting. This new seat at the table reflects the growing convergence of our strategic interests, from economic security and collective defense to our unwavering support for Ukraine."
Sharing the schedule for the period ahead, Anand concluded, "This momentum will continue with an important milestone in October, when Canada hosts the Canada-European Union Leaders' Summit, advancing our shared transatlantic priorities."
