Bermudez: Cuba is a free, independent and sovereign country
Havana, January 11 (Hibya) – Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez rejected the criticism directed at his country, stressing that U.S. sanctions are the main cause of the economic difficulties.
Cuban President Diaz-Canel Bermudez said that those who turn human lives into a commodity have no moral right to criticize Cuba on any issue.
Emphasizing that the attacks against his country stem from discomfort with the sovereign will of the Cuban people to choose their own political model, Diaz-Canel said: “Those who attribute the severe economic hardships we are experiencing to the Revolution should remain silent; because they know this is the result of the suffocating sanctions that the United States has imposed for more than sixty years and has threatened to further tighten.”
Recalling that Cuba is a free, independent and sovereign country, Diaz-Canel added: “No one can dictate to us what we should do. Cuba is not aggressive; it has been subjected to U.S. aggression for 66 years. It does not threaten, it prepares, and it is ready to defend its homeland to the last drop of blood.”
