Budrys: Turkey is a key NATO ally for Baltic region security
Vilnius, January 16 (Hibya) - Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys emphasized Turkey’s strategic importance for Lithuania and the Baltic region’s security during his meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Vilnius.
Budrys stated that Turkey's contributions under NATO, including the Baltic air policing mission and the deployment of AWACS, are of great value. He also reported that the meeting addressed topics including defense industry, green transformation, energy efficiency, and joint support projects for Ukraine.
Budrys thanked Minister Fidan for his views on regional security, developments in the Middle East, countering hybrid threats, and Russia’s war against Ukraine, adding, "In Europe, a just and lasting peace can only be achieved by acting together, continuing sustainable pressure on the aggressor, and maintaining support for Ukraine."
