Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Polendakov attends UN Sustainable Development Forum
Sofia, July 14 (Hibya) - Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Hristo Polendakov attended the ministerial session of the United Nations (UN) High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, where he shared Bulgaria's priorities in the field of sustainable development.
According to a statement from Bulgaria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Foreign Minister Hristo Polendakov attended the ministerial session of the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and presented Bulgaria's national priorities in sustainable development.
In his national statement, Polendakov stressed that effective international cooperation, strong institutions, and strict adherence to international law are essential for the successful implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development amid growing global uncertainty and deepening international challenges.
Polendakov stated that Bulgaria views peace, human rights, and sustainable development as complementary goals and said the country will continue to support initiatives aimed at building a more effective and modern United Nations system.
He also highlighted Bulgaria's national priorities in sustainable water management, a secure and just energy transition, industrial modernization, and digital transformation, noting that the country plays an active role in regional cooperation for the protection of the Danube River and the Black Sea.
The Deputy Minister also identified promoting innovation, developing artificial intelligence technologies, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises as key priorities.
Polendakov said Bulgaria has adopted a holistic approach to sustainable urban development through environmentally friendly transportation, energy efficiency, modern infrastructure investments, climate change adaptation, and environmentally sustainable practices.
Concluding his remarks, he reaffirmed Bulgaria's commitment to continuing cooperation with its international partners to strengthen the multilateral international system and build a more sustainable, secure, and prosperous future for all.
