Canada Calls on Israel and Palestine to Negotiate a Ceasefire
Ottawa, July 25 (Hibya) – Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney condemned the Israeli government's failure to prevent the rapid deterioration of the humanitarian disaster in Gaza.
Canada condemned the Israeli government's failure to prevent the rapid deterioration of the humanitarian disaster in Gaza.
Prime Minister Carney stated that Israel's control over aid distribution should be replaced with comprehensive humanitarian assistance provided by international organizations. He emphasized that many of these organizations hold significant amounts of aid funded by Canada, which does not reach starving civilians. "The denial of humanitarian aid in this manner is a violation of international law. Canada calls on all parties to negotiate a ceasefire immediately in good faith. We reiterate our calls for the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement to release all hostages immediately and for the Israeli government to respect the territorial integrity of the West Bank and Gaza," he said.
Carney also highlighted that Canada supports a two-state solution guaranteeing peace and security for Israel and the Palestinians, stating, "Canada will work intensively in all forums to achieve this goal, including the Foreign Minister’s participation in the United Nations High-Level Conference on the Two-State Solution to be held next week in New York."
