Carney: We owe our rights and freedoms to those who fought for them
Ottawa, June 6 (Hibya) - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney commemorated the Canadian soldiers who landed on Juno Beach and sacrificed their lives for freedom in a message marking the anniversary of D-Day.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney highlighted the landing that took place 82 years ago and the sacrifices made by Canadian soldiers.
Recalling the scale of the operation and its heavy cost, Carney said, “Eighty-two years ago, 14,000 Canadians landed on Juno Beach. Many never returned home.”
Emphasizing that today's freedoms were won through this struggle, Prime Minister Carney concluded his message by saying, “On the anniversary of D-Day, we take a moment to honor those who served and sacrificed. We remember that we owe our rights, our freedoms, and our way of life to those who answered the call and fought for them.”
