Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President of China, and Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, today exchanged congratulatory messages marking the 65th anniversary of the signing of the China-DPRK Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance.

In his message, Xi Jinping noted that the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, signed in 1961 by the older generation of leaders of China and the DPRK, laid an important political and legal foundation for strengthening the wartime friendship forged in blood between the two countries and continues to play an important role in preserving China-DPRK friendship as well as regional and global peace and stability.

Recalling his successful official visit to the DPRK in June this year, Xi Jinping said that in the face of profound global changes, he stands ready to strengthen strategic coordination with General Secretary Kim Jong Un, properly guide the development of bilateral relations, ensure that friendship and cooperation bring greater benefits to the peoples of both countries, and continue making active contributions to regional peace and development.

Xi Jinping stressed that regardless of how the international situation changes, China's great importance to the traditional friendship between the two countries, its firm support for the socialist cause under the leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Un, and its determination to safeguard common interests and a favorable strategic environment will never change.

In his congratulatory message, Kim Jong Un emphasized that despite numerous historical challenges, the DPRK and China have always supported each other and maintained close cooperation, demonstrating to the world the enduring strength of DPRK-China friendship. He also expressed his readiness to work with General Secretary Xi Jinping to elevate the traditional friendship between the two countries to a new level and make it a model for socialist countries.
