Commissioner Kos: Montenegro's EU membership should be a shared objective
Brussels, July 10 (Hibya) - European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said that Montenegro's accession to the European Union should be a common objective shared by all political actors.
European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos announced that she met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro, Andrija Mandić, and representatives of the Serbian ethnic community.
Kos said the meeting focused on how inter-party dialogue contributes to Montenegro's European Union accession process, as well as the recent compromise reached between the government and the opposition.
In her statement, Kos noted that the constitutional amendments required for alignment with EU legislation were adopted this week with the support of more than 90 percent of members of parliament, adding that they hope this political consensus will continue until the completion of Montenegro's accession process.
