Israeli President Herzog, stating that Joe Lieberman was a steadfast friend to the Israeli people, said:

"Joe was a great statesman, a true patriot, and a steadfast friend to the Israeli people. His legacy will be his dedication to duty and his loyalty to his country, faith, people, and family. We extend our deepest condolences to his dear wife, Hadassah, and all his family."
