Dutch Prime Minister Schoof: I wish peace and honor to the people of Suriname
Amsterdam, December 25 (Hibya) - Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof expressed his wish for peace and honor to all Surinamese people.
Prime Minister Schoof noted that Desi Bouterse left a significant mark on Surinamese society, saying, “However, for many, especially the surviving relatives, his name will primarily be associated with the December murders and the case that led to his conviction. His death spared him from serving his sentence.”
Schoof added that his death will evoke a range of emotions in both Suriname and the Netherlands, especially among the victims' relatives: “My thoughts are with them, and, keeping President Santokhi’s words in mind, I wish peace and honor to all Surinamese people.”
