Eurobarometer: Europeans see the EU as a "safe haven"
Brussels, July 1 (Hibya) - According to the European Parliament's latest Eurobarometer survey, 75 percent of Europeans view the European Union (EU) as a source of stability, while 74 percent believe EU membership benefits their country.
The latest Eurobarometer survey published by the European Parliament indicates a significant increase in Europeans' positive perception of the EU.
According to the survey, 75 percent of respondents describe the EU as "an island of stability in a troubled world," an increase of 8 percentage points compared with the previous findings. Meanwhile, 74 percent said their country's EU membership is beneficial, one of the highest levels recorded since measurements began in 1983.
The survey also found that 68 percent of Europeans believe the EU's role in protecting citizens against global crises and security risks should become even stronger in the future. Additionally, 73 percent want the EU to have greater capacity to address global challenges.
Despite growing economic concerns, the survey shows that European citizens continue to have strong confidence in the EU as a source of peace, cooperation, and quality of life. European Parliament officials emphasized that citizens expect the EU to take further action, particularly on inflation, economic stability, and security.
Overall, the results indicate that while uncertainty and optimism remain balanced across Europe, confidence in the EU continues to stay at a high level.
