In the United Kingdom, the FTSE 100 index rose 0.08 percent to 10,888.30 points, while Italy's FTSE MIB index fell 0.18 percent to 53,446.80 points.
The pan-European STOXX Europe 600 index remained flat at 657.14 points, Germany's DAX index at 26,126.30 points, and France's CAC 40 index at 8,669.30 points.
