European Media Freedom Act enters into force
Brussels, August 8 (Hibya) – President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola announced that the European Media Freedom Act has officially entered into force as of today.
Metsola expressed pride in the European Parliament’s key role in bringing the legislation to life.
She emphasized that the new regulation aims to strengthen democracy in Europe and stated that journalists must be protected not only in Europe but globally, so they can carry out their work freely, without fear, threats, or external interference.
The law aims to enhance the independence of media organizations and provide journalists with stronger legal safeguards.
