First polio vaccinations in Gaza
Stockholm, September 1 (Hibya)—The first polio vaccinations have been administered in Gaza, and the major vaccination program begins on Sunday.
The first doses were administered at a hospital in Khan Younis on Saturday, but the major vaccination drive, backed by the World Health Organization (WHO), is scheduled to begin only on Sunday morning.
The program covers 640,000 children under the age of 10 who need to be vaccinated against the infectious disease that emerged during the war between Israel and Hamas.
According to the WHO, Israel has agreed to halt hostilities in certain areas of Gaza for eight hours a day for three consecutive days.
