Four wildfires in Los Angeles still raging
Los Angeles, January 11 (Hibya) - Four wildfires that began on Tuesday in Los Angeles are still raging.
At least 11 people have lost their lives in the fires, and authorities warn that the real toll won't be clear until it's safe to enter the affected neighborhoods.
The LA Sheriff's Department announced on Friday that over 100,000 people are under evacuation orders, with tens of thousands more under warnings.
The California governor has called for an independent investigation into the causes of water pressure loss in some fire hydrants during this week's efforts. A CNN analysis revealed that a devastating combination of factors pushed the county's resources beyond their limits.
According to county officials, at least 10,000 properties have been destroyed, with entire neighborhoods flattened.
Firefighters have made progress in battling the flames: the Hurst Fire is 70% contained, and the Kenneth Fire is 50% contained. Authorities report that the Palisades coastal fire is at least 8% contained, and significant progress is expected tonight in containing the Eaton Fire in Altadena.
