Ghebreyesus: Hunger in Gaza as deadly as bombs
Geneva, July 24 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that 2.1 million people in Gaza are facing hunger, calling for full humanitarian access, release of hostages, a ceasefire, and a political solution.
In a statement shared on social media, Ghebreyesus emphasized that the 2.1 million people in the region are threatened not only by war but also by hunger.
“Gaza is a battlefield, and hunger is now as deadly as bombs,” he said.
He appealed to the international community: “Ensure full humanitarian access, release all hostages, declare an immediate ceasefire, and achieve a lasting political solution.”
The WHO reported that since the start of the conflict, Gaza’s health system has neared collapse, and basic life needs are unmet.
