Griffiths: We are fully in solidarity with Brazil, UNOCHA, and partners
New York, May 12 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) Deputy Secretary-General and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths said they are fully in solidarity with Brazil, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), and their partners.
UN Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Griffiths said the unprecedented floods in Brazil have broken records dating back 150 years. Extreme weather events strikingly demonstrate the serious humanitarian consequences of climate change.
Griffiths said, "We are fully in solidarity with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) and partners and are ready to support the government's intervention."
