Heat wave kills 33 in India
Stockholm, June 2 (Hibya) - A severe heat wave in several parts of India has killed at least 33 people, according to the latest Indian media reports.
Local media reported that some election officials were among the dead.
The ongoing heat wave has particularly affected the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. At least 33 people, including election officials, succumbed to heatstroke in these regions.
The Indian Meteorological Department predicted that the heat wave in eastern India would continue for two more days.
This week, the highest temperature recorded in the capital, Delhi, reached 52.9 degrees Celsius. However, meteorologists predict temperatures will drop in northwest and central India in the coming days.
