Hezbollah claims first clash with Israeli infantry
Stockholm, October 2 (Hibya) - For the first time since Israel announced a ground operation in Lebanon, the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah said it engaged in clashes with IDF infantry near the southern town of Odayseh, according to Ria Novosty.
"At dawn on Wednesday, Islamic Resistance fighters encountered and engaged hostile Israeli infantry forces attempting to enter the town of Odayseh from the direction of Hallet al-Mahafer, inflicting casualties and forcing them to retreat," Hezbollah wrote on its Telegram channel.
The IDF reported heavy fighting in southern Lebanon and urged residents to avoid travelling south of the Litani River.
Meanwhile, Al Jazeera reported that Israel was transporting casualties and deaths from the clashes in the Lebanese border region by helicopters.
