Hezbollah confirms death of leader Hassan Nasrallah
Lebanon, September 28 (Hibya) - Hezbollah confirmed the death of its Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the southern suburbs of Beirut on Friday, ending his 32-year leadership.
In a statement, the group said:
"The master of resistance, the righteous servant, a great martyr, has passed away to meet his Lord, who is pleased with him. Hezbollah leadership ... vows to continue its jihad against the enemy [Israel], support Gaza and Palestine, and defend Lebanon and its loyal and honorable people."
The statement did not mention who would succeed Nasrallah or how the group would respond to the killing of its long-time leader.
Hezbollah also added that it would continue its struggle against Israel "to support Gaza and Palestine and defend Lebanon and its loyal and honorable people."
