Human rights organization calls on Mongolia to arrest Putin
Stockholm, September 3 (Hibya) - Human rights organization Human Rights Watch calls on Mongolia to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin, who visited the country on Monday.
Human Rights Watch has called for the arrest of the Russian president for alleged war crimes in Ukraine. The human rights organization believes that Mongolia is "defying its international obligations as a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC)" if it allows Putin to visit the country without being arrested.
Putin was invited by the Moscow government by his Mongolian presidential counterpart Uchnaagiin Chürelsüch to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
Ukraine called on the Mongolian government to arrest Putin ahead of the visit.
However, Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said that the Russian side is not afraid that the president will be arrested.
