"We have not entered, nor do we want to enter into any competition between China and Europe or between China and Hungary that would create system competition," he said.

Szijjártó underlined that his government was more interested in mutually beneficial cooperation than competition. The minister said that one of the most serious consequences of the war in Ukraine is that the world is heading towards the formation of blocs again, which is particularly bad news for Central Europe, which has always been caught in the East-West conflict.

Speaking at the meeting in Brussels, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that China's military support for Russia in the war in Ukraine would be a historic mistake and would have profound consequences.

"China refuses to condemn Russian aggression, repeats Russian propaganda and supports the Russian economy, while at the same time they are increasing their military activities in the Pacific," Stoltenberg said.
