The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement regarding a clash in southern Lebanon.

According to the statement, troops from the Golani Brigade encountered a Hezbollah operative while searching a suspicious area in the Deir Siran area. During the exchange of fire, Sergeant David Hazut was killed and another soldier sustained minor injuries.

The IDF said that following extensive search operations in the area, the attacker was located inside a nearby building and neutralized.

The statement also said: "The IDF will continue its operations to eliminate any threat to its forces and will not allow the Hezbollah terrorist organization to attack the citizens of the State of Israel or IDF troops."
