The attack on Iran's state television was broadcast live. The Foreign Ministry described the strike, which occurred as the presenter was speaking, as an “evil act” and called on the United Nations to act.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the strike on IRIB offices during the live broadcast was a “heinous act” and a “war crime.” “The UN must act immediately to stop the genocidal aggressor from committing more atrocities against our people,” he said.

A sudden explosion was heard in the studio, and the presenter quickly moved off-camera as dust and debris filled the air.

Cries of “Allahu Akbar” were heard off-camera, and the broadcast suddenly switched to a pre-recorded program. Shortly after, the live feed resumed.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps condemned the attack, calling it an “inhuman, criminal, and terrorist act.”

After decades of hostility and a long shadow war, Israel launched a surprise attack on Friday, claiming to target Iran’s nuclear and military facilities. At least 224 people have been killed in Iran so far, including top military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians.

According to the latest figures from the Prime Minister’s Office, Iran responded with drone and missile attacks that killed at least 24 people in Israel.

Iran does not recognize Israel and has long accused it of sabotage operations against its nuclear facilities and of assassinating scientists.
