Israel's Foreign Ministry responded to remarks by Jordan's King Abdullah II regarding international law and the rights of Palestinians in the West Bank.

In a post on the Israeli Foreign Ministry's social media account, King Abdullah was criticized for speaking "so passionately" about these issues, while it was alleged that Jordan collectively and unilaterally revoked the citizenship and rights of Palestinians living in the West Bank in July 1988.

The post claimed that the decision was taken on the instructions of King Abdullah's father, King Hussein, stating: "Overnight, Palestinians in Judea and Samaria lost the right to vote or stand for election to the Jordanian parliament, the right to work in the Jordanian civil service, or the right to receive funding from the Hashemite Kingdom."

Israel's Foreign Ministry also claimed that Palestinians had their Jordanian passports taken away or not renewed, were classified as foreign nationals, and faced restrictions on entering and remaining in Jordan.

At the end of the post, King Abdullah was addressed with the words: "Tell us more about international law."
