Israeli Foreign Ministry reacts to reports of Turkey-Hamas contact
Jerusalem, July 22 (Hibya) - Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement regarding a reported phone call between Hamas' newly appointed Political Bureau Chairman Khalil al-Hayya and Turkish Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalin.
Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to a statement published by Hamas claiming that a phone conversation had taken place between Hamas' new Political Bureau Chairman Khalil al-Hayya and Turkish Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalin.
In a post on its official social media account, the Israeli Foreign Ministry accused Türkiye of supporting Hamas, stating, "It has been reported that the Erdoğan administration congratulated Hamas' new terror chief."
According to a statement published by Hamas, Khalil al-Hayya received a phone call from Ibrahim Kalin, who congratulated him on his election as Chairman of Hamas' Political Bureau.
The statement added that Kalin reaffirmed Türkiye's support for the Palestinian people and their rights, while al-Hayya expressed his appreciation for Türkiye's position and for the relations between the two sides.
Hamas also stated that communication and consultations between the two parties would continue.
