Italian Prime Minister Meloni attended the African Union Summit
Addis Ababa, February 14 (Hibya) - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni emphasized in her speech at the African Union Summit that the fight against irregular migration is fundamentally based on people’s freedom to live and remain in prosperity in their own countries.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni addressed the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, held in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa.
Stating that enabling African youth to build a future in their own lands is a matter of “freedom,” Meloni said:
“Guaranteeing to the women and men of the African continent a freedom of which they are often deprived: the freedom to choose to remain in their own country and contribute to its development; the freedom not to be forced to leave their homeland by paying unscrupulous human traffickers and risking their lives trying to cross the Mediterranean should be our priority.”
