The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice President Kallas emphasized that President Trump’s determination to reach a peace agreement is crucial.

She noted that the EU and its partners in Europe worked in coordination with President Trump ahead of the Alaska meeting, and added:

“But the bitter truth is that Russia has no intention of ending this war anytime soon. Russia launched new attacks on Ukraine while delegations were gathering. The EU will work with Ukraine and the US to ensure that Russia’s aggression does not succeed and that any peace is sustainable.”
