Kallas: The EU will continue to hold those responsible accountable
Brussels, July 24 (Hibya) - European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas commented on human rights violations in Iran and the newly adopted sanctions.
Kallas stated that while the world's attention is focused on the war in the Middle East, Iran's repression of its own people should not be overlooked. She announced that the EU had imposed new restrictive measures on Iranian judges responsible for serious human rights violations, including the persecution of political opponents and religious minorities.
Kallas also said that sanctions had been imposed on a leading figure of a cyber group enabling the regime's suppression of access to information, adding, "As Tehran intensifies its internal repression, the EU will continue to hold those responsible accountable."
