Kosovo Accuses Serbia of Terrorism
Pristina, November 30 (Hibya) - Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti accused Serbia of terrorism due to sabotage targeting the country’s two thermal power plants.
An explosion in Kosovo damaged an irrigation canal that carries drinking water nationwide and a canal that supplies cooling water to the country’s two largest coal-powered power plants.
According to Prime Minister Albin Kurti, the explosion that damaged the cooling systems of Kosovo's largest coal-powered plants was a terrorist act overlooked by the Serbs. The sabotaged canal is also used for drinking water supply.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Kurti said the aim was to damage Kosovo's critical infrastructure. "This was done by professionals, and we see them as criminals controlled by Serbian authorities," he said.
The two power plants produce nearly all the electricity used in Kosovo, and if the damage is not repaired by morning, power outages could occur nationwide. Kurti did not specify the extent of the damage but said the irrigation canal stretches from the Serbian-majority north to the capital, Pristina.
